Thomas Preining Expresses Frustration After DTM Race Chaos
Following a tumultuous DTM race at Hockenheim, Thomas Preining expressed his frustration regarding the actions of some rivals. Despite starting third on the grid, the Manthey Porsche driver fell to 14th place after multiple incidents on the opening lap, ultimately finishing in fifth.
Preining's troubles began when he was struck by Thierry Vermeulen, a driver for Emil Frey Ferrari, at Turn 2, which caused him to lose eleven positions. While he acknowledged Vermeulen's mistake was unintentional, he criticized other competitors for what he perceived as deliberate attempts to take him out of the race.
After initially dropping to 11th place post-restart, Preining made a strong comeback, showcasing effective overtaking skills and a quick pit stop. He currently leads the overall standings by 20 points over Marco Wittmann and 22 points ahead of the Winward Mercedes driver, emphasizing the need for a clean race in the final event.
