Three Men Convicted in Baja California Murders of Surfers
In Baja California, a Mexican judge has convicted three men for the murders of two Australians and an American who were on a surf trip in April 2024. The convicted individuals, Jesús Gerardo García, Irineo Francisco, and Ángel Jesús, face a maximum sentence of 210 years in prison, with final sentencing scheduled for October 16.
The case began when Jake and Callum Robinson from Australia and American Carter Redd Rhoad went missing on April 28, 2024. Their bodies were discovered on May 3 in a well near their camping site at Puna San José, located 50 miles south of Ensenada. The three men were also found guilty of armed robbery and armed carjacking.
Details emerged from the testimony of a fourth accomplice, Ary Gisell Silva Raya, who pleaded guilty to related charges and received a 20-year sentence. She revealed that García had targeted the surfers for their possessions, leading to the tragic events. The parents of the Robinson brothers attended the trial, expressing their hope for justice and remembrance of their sons.
