Three NFL Players Start 2026 Season on Commissioner’s Exempt List

The players on the exempt list include Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs, who faces misdemeanor charges related to an altercation at his home. Denver Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper is also on the list, facing multiple charges including second-degree assault stemming from domestic violence incidents. Seattle Seahawks cornerback Terrion Arnold is charged with kidnapping and armed robbery related to a February incident.
The commissioner has the authority to assign players to the exempt list based on the NFL’s personal conduct policy, which outlines specific circumstances for such designations. Players can appeal their placement on the list within three days of notification.
