Thunder Defeat Spurs 116-104 in Season Opener
The Oklahoma City Thunder began their season with a 116-104 win against the San Antonio Spurs in San Antonio. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 32 points, avenging last season's playoff loss to the Spurs.
Victor Wembanyama, a standout for San Antonio, scored 12 points but struggled significantly, making only 1 of 13 shots from the field. His only basket came on an alley-oop as the third quarter ended, after missing his first 12 attempts.
Oklahoma City maintained control for most of the game, leading by as much as 26 points in the first half. A scuffle in the second quarter resulted in multiple technical fouls, but the Thunder responded with a strong offensive performance, particularly from Jared McCain, who added 20 points. The Spurs will next face the Houston Rockets in Austin on Friday.
