Tiger Woods Reveals the Practical Reason Behind His Finger Taping Ritual
Tiger Woods has disclosed the reason behind his long-standing ritual of taping his fingers before golf events, which is primarily for practical purposes rather than style. The taping helps protect his hands and enhances his grip during play.
The practice originated when Woods developed a blister and callus on his middle finger, prompting him to wrap tape around it for protection. He typically wraps his middle finger twice and continues to tape whenever blisters form, including on his ring finger during practice sessions.
Woods' rigorous training regimen, which includes hitting around 1,000 shots before tournaments, contributes to the development of calluses and blisters. Other golfers, such as Justin Leonard and Rickie Fowler, have also adopted finger taping as part of their routines, noting improvements in grip and efficiency.
