Tigers and Mariners Clash After Multiple Hit Batters
During a game at T-Mobile Park in Seattle on Wednesday night, tensions flared between the Tigers and Mariners, leading to a bench-clearing incident in the eighth inning.
The confrontation was sparked when Mariners reliever Drew Speier hit former Yankee Gleyber Torres, resulting in the ejection of Speier and Mariners manager Dan Wilson. Throughout the game, four Tigers were hit by pitches, while Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh was struck in the bottom of the seventh.
Mariners starter Bryan Woo notably became the first MLB pitcher since 2022 to pitch seven scoreless innings while hitting three batters. Following the incident, Torres suggested that lingering tensions from a previous series in April may have contributed to the heated atmosphere. The Tigers and Mariners are set to conclude their series on Thursday afternoon, with Framber Valdez starting for Detroit.
