Tigers Release Reliever Nick Sandlin from Triple-A

The Detroit Tigers have released right-handed reliever Nick Sandlin from their Triple-A affiliate in Toledo. This decision follows a period where Sandlin had been performing well, potentially influenced by an opt-out clause in his contract.

Sandlin, who previously played for the Guardians from 2021 to 2024, had a solid track record with a 3.27 ERA over 195 1/3 innings. However, injuries in 2025 significantly impacted his performance, leading to a career-low average velocity and a brief stint with the Angels, where he struggled.

After signing a minor league deal with the Tigers, Sandlin showed improvement in Toledo, posting a 2.21 ERA over his last 20 1/3 innings. Despite his recent success, the Tigers opted to release him, leaving open the possibility for other teams to acquire him as they seek bullpen depth.
