Tigers Sign Michael Siani to Minor League Deal
The Detroit Tigers have reached an agreement with outfielder Michael Siani on a minor league contract, as reported by Emily Waldon of Just Baseball. Siani will be assigned to Triple-A Toledo.
Previously, Siani was released by the Baltimore Orioles after a brief stint where he made only one appearance as a defensive substitute. He had been claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers in mid-May but struggled in the minors, posting a .167 batting average with one home run and a 30% strikeout rate over 219 plate appearances.
His signing comes in response to injuries affecting the Tigers' outfield, including the recent loss of James Outman to a concussion and Riley Greene to the injured list. To address the situation, the Tigers have also called up Trei Cruz and Corey Julks from Toledo.
