Tigers Sign Nick Raquet to Minor League Contract
The Detroit Tigers have signed left-handed pitcher Nick Raquet to a two-year minor league contract after he became a free agent following his release from the Orioles in early September.
This contract is particularly significant as Raquet recently underwent Tommy John surgery, which will keep him sidelined for the entire 2027 season. The deal provides him with security while he rehabilitates, with the Tigers planning to utilize him once he is healthy in 2028.
Raquet was a third-round draft pick by the Nationals in 2017 but stepped away from baseball in 2020 due to the pandemic. He later returned to college to complete his business degree and worked as a consultant before resuming his baseball career in independent leagues in 2023. After signing with the Cardinals in 2024, he made his MLB debut in September 2025. His performance in the minors improved significantly, showcasing a 3.68 ERA and a notable strikeout rate.
