Tim Anderson Retires After 10 Years in Major League Baseball

Tim Anderson, a two-time All-Star shortstop known for winning the 2019 AL batting title with the Chicago White Sox, has announced his retirement after a decade in Major League Baseball.

The 33-year-old made his retirement announcement on Monday, reflecting on the physical challenges he faced in recent years. He noted that despite his efforts to regain his previous form, he could not achieve the same level of performance.

Throughout his career, Anderson played 991 games, achieving a batting average of .276 with 98 home runs and 350 RBIs. He spent eight seasons with the White Sox before brief stints with the Miami Marlins and Los Angeles Angels, where he last played on May 25, 2025. The White Sox plan to honor Anderson during a tribute on September 17 against Detroit, wearing special uniforms that he wore during significant moments of his career.
