Tim Kennedy Reportedly Wounded in Congo Ambush
Tim Kennedy, a former UFC fighter and U.S. Army Green Beret, was reportedly injured in an ambush in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on September 17. The attack also resulted in the death of Justin Conaglen, a former New Zealand special operations soldier, and injured another contractor.
Details of the incident emerged from a report by The New Zealand Herald and a podcast featuring former Delta Force operator Brent Tucker. Kennedy, 47, was involved in a contracting operation aimed at protecting mining revenues and combating smuggling for the Congolese government. Following the ambush, he was medically evacuated to the United States.
While the specifics of the attack and the extent of Kennedy's injuries have not been independently verified, Tucker mentioned that the contractors sustained multiple gunshot wounds and had to wait several hours for evacuation. Kennedy has a background in military service and mixed martial arts, having served in Iraq and Afghanistan as a sniper.
