Tim Wellens Secures Victory in 2026 Tour of Britain

Belgium's Tim Wellens emerged victorious in the 2026 Tour of Britain, while Nils Politt won the fifth stage of the event.

Wellens started the final day with a 21-second advantage over Great Britain's Lewis Askey, which he increased to 42 seconds by finishing eighth, 21 seconds behind Politt. Askey completed the stage 40 seconds behind Wellens, securing second place, with Jasper Stuyven from Belgium taking third, 21 seconds later.

Great Britain's Elliot Rowe finished sixth, followed by compatriots Mark Donovan in ninth and Ben Wiggins in tenth. Before the stage began, riders honored Ben Swift, who announced his retirement at the end of the 2026 season. Politt's victory marked his first stage win since 2022, following an attack with less than nine kilometers remaining.
