Timur Turlov Unveils New Organizational Structure for FIDE
Timur Turlov, President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), has announced a new organizational structure designed to improve governance and clarify responsibilities within the federation. This initiative is part of Turlov's vision to elevate FIDE to a new level of effectiveness and engagement with the global chess community.
The new structure aims to establish a clearer division of responsibilities among FIDE's governing bodies and administrative units. The General Assembly will continue to serve as the supreme governing body, while the FIDE Council's role will be strengthened to enhance strategic oversight. A Governance Secretariat will support these efforts, and the President's Office will focus on strategic priorities, led by Adil Kozhikhov.
Additionally, an Advisory Board will be formed, comprising professionals with international expertise to assist in developing long-term strategies. Darmen Sadvakasov has been appointed as Chair of this board. The day-to-day operations will be overseen by Secretary General Alina Dvoretskaya, who aims to improve operational efficiency through a clearer allocation of responsibilities. This restructuring is intended to foster a cohesive team environment and ensure that FIDE can effectively support the growth of chess worldwide.
