Titans Coach Confirms Trade of Defensive Tackle Simmons to Bears
Robert Saleh, head coach of the Tennessee Titans, has confirmed that the team will not engage in a fire sale ahead of the trade deadline, despite their current record of 1-6. However, the Titans accepted a significant trade offer from the Chicago Bears for defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons.
The Bears traded their next two first-round draft picks to acquire Simmons, a move Saleh acknowledged was too advantageous for the Titans to decline. He noted that while the team is not actively shopping players, their poor performance has led other teams to inquire about their roster.
Saleh expressed his admiration for Simmons, calling him the best defensive tackle in the NFL and lamenting the loss of such a valuable player and leader. He described the decision to trade Simmons as difficult but potentially beneficial for the Titans' future, as the draft picks could aid in rebuilding the team.
