Titans GM Discusses Jeffery Simmons Trade to Bears
On Thursday, the Tennessee Titans traded Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears, a move that surprised both the player and the team. Simmons had indicated earlier that he did not anticipate being traded during the 2026 season.
General Manager Mike Borgonzi revealed that he received a call from Bears GM Ryan Poles late Wednesday night, which prompted discussions about the trade. Borgonzi noted that he had received inquiries about Simmons in the past but had not considered a trade until this recent offer.
After consulting with Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk on Thursday morning, Borgonzi decided to proceed with the trade, which included two first-round picks going to Tennessee. Although Simmons was reluctant to leave, Borgonzi believes the move presents a significant opportunity for him to compete at a high level.
