Titans Trade Jeffery Simmons to Bears, Focus on Draft Capital
On Thursday, the Tennessee Titans finalized a trade sending defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round pick to the Chicago Bears in exchange for first-round picks in 2027 and 2028, along with a fourth-round pick in 2027.
This move comes as the Titans, currently with a 1-6 record, are not in contention for the Super Bowl and are looking to rebuild through the draft. The Bears, at 5-2, are seen as a Super Bowl contender, making this trade beneficial for both teams.
As a result of this trade, the Titans would hold the second and twenty-eighth picks in the first round of the upcoming 2027 NFL Draft. The franchise has struggled in recent drafts, with only two players from the 2020-2023 classes remaining on the roster. However, under the guidance of general manager Mike Borgonzi, there are signs of improvement, as rookie players like Carnell Tate and Anthony Hill Jr. have made significant contributions this season.
