Tom Aspinall Awaiting Medical Clearance for UFC Return
Tom Aspinall is currently unable to defend his UFC heavyweight title while he awaits additional medical evaluations, as stated by his manager, Eddie Hearn.
The 33-year-old champion has been inactive since a no-contest against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi last October, which was halted due to an eye injury caused by an illegal strike. Although Aspinall has had surgery to address the injury, he still requires clearance from the commission.
Hearn noted that Aspinall is training but cannot set a return date until he meets the commission's medical requirements. He emphasized that the timeline for Aspinall's return hinges on these evaluations. Meanwhile, Gane has secured the interim heavyweight title during Aspinall's absence, and discussions for a potential rematch are ongoing, contingent on Aspinall's medical approval.
