Tom Aspinall Denies Leaving UFC Amid Recovery from Eye Injury
Tom Aspinall, the heavyweight champion, has refuted claims that he is departing from the UFC while he recuperates from a serious eye injury. He has not competed since October, when his title defense against Ciryl Gane ended in a no-contest due to repeated eye pokes.
After being diagnosed with a rare eye condition that caused persistent double vision, Aspinall underwent surgery. He indicated in June that he had returned to full training and was preparing for a rematch with Gane, potentially scheduled for September.
Despite recent social media reports suggesting his exit from the UFC, Aspinall clarified that he is in regular communication with the organization and has never indicated plans to leave. He has a professional MMA record of 15 wins, three losses, and one no-contest.
