Tom Aspinall Vacates UFC Heavyweight Title Due to Eye Injury Setbacks

Tom Aspinall has announced that he is vacating his UFC heavyweight title due to ongoing complications with his eyes. This decision comes 323 days after he suffered eye injuries during a no-contest fight against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 in October.

Despite undergoing multiple surgeries, Aspinall's return to the octagon remains uncertain following a recent setback in training that caused additional damage to his right eye. UFC CEO Dana White had previously indicated he might strip Aspinall of the title, but the fighter chose to make the announcement himself.

Aspinall expressed his disappointment over the situation, stating that he has been focused on recovery and has kept the UFC informed about his medical status. He emphasized that vacating the title does not mean he is stepping away from the sport and remains committed to returning to competition as soon as he is medically cleared.
