Tom Farrer Emerges as a Key Player for Box Hill in VFL

Tom Farrer, a 20-year-old utility for Box Hill, has become a standout player in the VFL during the 2026 season. After participating in only one game last year, he has played in all but one match this season and has been nominated for the Fothergill-Round-Mitchell Medal, recognizing him as one of the competition's most promising players.

Farrer has demonstrated versatility by successfully taking on various roles, including matchups against notable AFL-listed players. His strong performance in Round 4 against Port Melbourne, where he recorded 21 disposals, marked a turning point in his season. He has also shown adaptability in his gameplay, which has been crucial given the availability of AFL players.

Having previously played school football, Farrer credits his rapid development to his training at Box Hill and the guidance of his former coach, Rodney Eade.
