Tom Lawlor, a competitor from G1 Climax 32, has predicted that Ryohei Oiwa will emerge victorious in NJPW's G1 Climax 36, utilizing his signature move, the Big Lock.
During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Lawlor analyzed the final round-robin matches and previewed the upcoming semifinals at Ryogoku Sumo Hall. The semifinals will feature Oiwa facing Callum Newman and Yuya Uemura competing against IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji. Lawlor anticipates Uemura will defeat Tsuji and Oiwa will overcome Newman, leading to a final match between Oiwa and Uemura.
Lawlor expressed his enthusiasm for the matches, particularly highlighting Oiwa's performance against Konosuke Takeshita, which he described as exceptional. He also noted that the match between Jake Lee and Yota Tsuji surpassed his expectations. The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, August 15.
