Tommy Castellanos Joins Texas Tech After NFL Minicamp Participation
Tommy Castellanos is set to join the Texas Tech football team after a recent ruling restored his NCAA eligibility. This decision comes despite the Big 12's new policy prohibiting former NFL players from returning to college football.
Previously a quarterback at Florida State, Castellanos entered the NFL draft but went undrafted. He participated in a rookie minicamp with the Miami Dolphins on a tryout basis. A Kentucky judge granted him a temporary restraining order, allowing him to play a fifth season of college football.
This will be Castellanos's fourth college team, following stints at Florida State, Boston College, and UCF. He will join fellow quarterbacks Will Hammond and Kirk Francis at Texas Tech, where the quarterback situation has been a focal point of the offseason.
