Tommy Makinson Announces Retirement from Rugby League
Tommy Makinson, a winger for Catalans Dragons, has revealed that he will retire from professional rugby league at the conclusion of the current season.
The 34-year-old, who previously played for St Helens from 2011 to 2024, achieved significant success during his career, including five Grand Finals and a Challenge Cup. Makinson has scored 20 tries in 37 matches for Catalans since joining the team in 2025.
Following a recent defeat against Huddersfield Giants, which diminished Catalans' playoff chances, Makinson's final match is set to take place against his hometown team, Wigan Warriors, on September 11. He expressed gratitude for his career and aims to savor the remaining games.
