Torbjørn Røed Claims Victory at Gravel Worlds with Record Time
Torbjørn Røed triumphed at the Gravel Worlds in Lincoln, Nebraska, achieving a record-setting finish time of 6:05. This event took place after overnight storms necessitated a switch to a wet course, which contributed to the fast racing conditions.
The race featured an early breakaway group that included Americans Brennan Wertz and Quinn Felton, Canadian Julien Gagne, and Germany's Paul Sandmann. Despite their efforts, they were eventually caught, leading to a decisive three-man breakaway with Røed, Gagne, and American Keegan Swenson.
This trio managed to create a significant gap of two minutes over the main group, allowing them to contest the medals among themselves. Røed's victory not only marked a personal achievement but also shattered the previous record of 6:48:46 set in 2024.
