Toronto Blue Jays Sign Pitcher Michael Lorenzen Following Rockies Release

The Toronto Blue Jays have added pitcher Michael Lorenzen to their roster after he was released by the Colorado Rockies. This move comes as the Blue Jays face multiple injuries within their pitching staff.

Lorenzen was designated for assignment on August 17 and had not played since August 15. He will be available out of the bullpen for the Blue Jays' upcoming game against the Kansas City Royals. The team will pay him a prorated portion of the major-league minimum salary, while the Rockies will cover the rest of his $8 million salary for the season.

In a related roster move, the Blue Jays optioned right-handed pitcher Chad Dallas to triple-A Buffalo and transferred outfielder Jonatan Clase to the 60-day injured list. Manager John Schneider indicated that Lorenzen is ready to take on any pitching role as needed.
