Tour de France Femmes 2026 Implements Clothing Checks to Prevent Aerodynamic Gains
At the Tour de France Femmes Avec Zwift, officials are conducting checks on riders' clothing to address concerns about potential aerodynamic advantages. Reports indicate that padding in bras could allow riders to gain up to one second per kilometer.
The race organizer, ASO, responded to Dutch media reports highlighting worries that some competitors might use bra padding as aerodynamic fairings. Additionally, other items may be inserted into skinsuits to enhance airflow around the body.
Riders are required to complete final checks of their bikes and outfits at least ten minutes before their start times. The UCI regulations prohibit non-essential elements that could alter a rider's morphology. Violations may result in disqualification and fines. The issue of policing such regulations remains a challenge, as noted by industry experts.
