Tour de France Femmes Stage 8 Preview: A Sprint Showdown in Nice
Stage 8 of the 2026 Tour de France Femmes will take place from Sisteron to Nice, covering a distance of 171.9 kilometers. This stage is notable for being the longest and flattest of the race, making it a prime candidate for a bunch sprint finish.
The route includes a mid-stage climb at the Col de Toutes Aures, followed by a downhill stretch leading to the Côte d’Azur. Although there are two Cat. 4 climbs in the last 10 kilometers, they are not expected to significantly impact the sprint outcome.
Lorena Wiebes has shown remarkable dominance in the sprint stages thus far, making her the favorite to win. Other teams will need to develop strategies to challenge her supremacy in this final sprint opportunity.
