Tour of Britain Women Brings Top Cyclists to Wales
The Tour of Britain Women is currently taking place in Wales, featuring some of the world's top female cyclists over two days. This event, which began in Cumbria and will conclude in Warwickshire, marks the first time the race includes five stages, with two stages set in Wales.
Stage three involves a 104.7km route from Mold to Great Orme in Llandudno, while stage four covers 138.3km from Llanidloes to Hay-on-Wye, known for its challenging climbs. This is the inaugural stage start in Mold for the women's race, although Flintshire has previously hosted the men's Tour.
Welsh fans can look forward to seeing local riders like Zoe Backstedt and Anna Morris compete alongside international stars. Backstedt, who recently debuted in the Tour de France Femmes, is currently positioned 51st, while Morris is the best-placed Welsh rider, just 20 seconds behind the leader. The event has drawn attention to the growth of women's cycling, although media coverage remains a concern.
