Toyota GR GT3 Set for Competition Debut in Japan
The Toyota GR GT3 is scheduled to make its competition debut in Japan next month, following its public appearances at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Rookie Racing, owned by Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda, will field the GR GT3 at the SUPER GT finale at Motegi on November 7-8, replacing the team's regular Mercedes-AMG GT3. The car will compete as an open entry, meaning it will not earn points. Hiroaki Ishiura and Tokiya Suzuki have been named as the drivers for this event.
Despite Dunlop being the sole tyre supplier for the GT300 class next year, the GR GT3 will utilize Bridgestone tyres. Toyota has been developing this GT3 model for several years, first previewing it at the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2022. The GR GT3 is expected to be available to customers starting next year, replacing the older Lexus RC F GT3.
