Trabzonspor Parts Ways with Coach Fatih Tekke After Poor Start
Trabzonspor has mutually parted ways with head coach Fatih Tekke, creating turmoil for the club shortly after the signing of Mohamed Salah. Tekke, who took over in March 2025 and led the team to a Turkish Cup victory last season, resigned following a heavy defeat against Ferencvaros in the UEFA Europa League play-offs.
The board initially rejected his resignation to maintain stability, but a recent 2-1 loss to Amedspor in the Super Lig prompted them to make a change. Trabzonspor, having invested significantly this summer, including signing Salah on a two-year deal, has struggled, earning only four points from their first three league matches and facing an early exit from European competition.
In addition to Tekke's departure, midfielder John Lundstram has also left the club after his contract was terminated. Trabzonspor will now compete in the UEFA Conference League, starting with a match against Kups on October 15.
