Trail Blazers Release Jeremy Sochan, Making Him a Free Agent
The Portland Trail Blazers have announced the waiver of forward Jeremy Sochan, as stated in a team press release.
Sochan, who was under a non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 contract, will become an unrestricted free agent on Monday if he is not claimed. His release reduces the Trail Blazers' roster to 17 players, including 14 on standard contracts and three on two-way deals.
At 23 years old, Sochan was the ninth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and previously played for the San Antonio Spurs. He averaged 9.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists over 228 regular season games. Despite a solid preseason performance, the Trail Blazers opted not to convert his training camp deal into a standard contract, leaving them with an open roster spot as the season approaches.
