Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand Secure Historic Bronze at BWF World Championships
Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand's impressive journey at the BWF World Championships concluded in the semifinals, where they faced China's top-seeded pair, Tan Ning and Liu Sheng Shu. The match took place on Saturday and lasted 70 minutes, ending with scores of 21-18, 13-21, and 21-8.
The Indian duo started strong, winning the first game 21-18, but the Chinese players responded effectively in the second game, leveling the match. In the deciding game, Tan and Liu dominated, securing their place in the final.
Despite the defeat, Treesa and Gayatri made history by winning a bronze medal, becoming the second Indian women's doubles team to achieve this feat at the World Championships, following Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa's bronze in 2011. Their semifinal appearance ended a 15-year wait for a medal in this category for India.
