Trek Factory Team Prepares for IRONMAN World Championship in Kona
The Trek Factory Team is gearing up for the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, featuring athletes such as Taylor Knibb, Marten Van Riel, Matthew Marquardt, and Sam Long. This year, the team aims to excel on the Big Island, showcasing their customized bikes with eye-catching Project One paint schemes.
Taylor Knibb, the recent IRONMAN 70.3 world champion, has been fine-tuning her bike after a strong performance in Nice and a 13th place finish at the UCI Road Cycling World Championships in Montreal. She is determined to secure a victory in Kona after a near win last year.
Matthew Marquardt, balancing his racing career with medical studies, hopes to become the first American man to win the championship since 2002. He arrives in Kona following a victory in IRONMAN South Africa and two second-place finishes. Marten Van Riel, making his Kona debut, is also a strong contender after a recent win in Lake Placid and aims to improve upon his previous performance at the world championship.
