Trendon Watford Signs One-Year Contract with Pelicans
Trendon Watford, a free agent forward, has signed a one-year contract worth $2.9 million with the New Orleans Pelicans. This decision follows his consideration of various opportunities, including a potential move to Valencia Basket in the EuroLeague.
Previously, Watford played for the Portland Trail Blazers and Brooklyn Nets, and he was with the Philadelphia 76ers last season. After the Sixers declined his team option, he entered free agency. In the past season, he participated in 53 games, averaging 6.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.
This signing marks the Pelicans' first significant addition during a relatively quiet offseason, bringing their roster to 15 players under standard contracts. At 25 years old, Watford can play both forward positions and will provide depth for the team, particularly in case of injuries or trades involving key players.
