Trent Robinson Advocates for NRL Investment to Revitalize French Rugby League
Trent Robinson, the coach of the Sydney Roosters, is currently serving as an assistant coach for the French national rugby league team at the Rugby League World Cup. He expressed optimism that the NRL's proposed investment in the Super League could help revitalize rugby league in France.
As negotiations regarding the investment progress, Robinson emphasized the potential benefits of a partnership between the NRL and Super League. He is supporting head coach Laurent Frayssinous as France prepares to face Samoa in their World Cup opener.
Historically, France was a dominant force in rugby league during the 1950s and 1960s, but their international standing has declined. Despite having two clubs in the Super League, France has struggled to achieve success on the international stage. Robinson noted the growing respect for rugby league in France and the challenges posed by competing with the more lucrative rugby union market.
