Trey Yesavage Set to Pitch for Triple-A Buffalo
Trey Yesavage is preparing to make his return to the mound, scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday against Rochester as he recovers from a knee injury.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider indicated that if Yesavage performs well in this rehab outing, he could be activated to pitch for the Blue Jays as early as next Sunday in Texas or the following Monday in Baltimore. Yesavage has not pitched in the majors since August 4, when he sustained a meniscus injury during a game against the Houston Astros, leading to surgery on September 4.
Earlier this week, Yesavage threw 30 pitches in a simulated game, reaching a fastball speed of 93 m.p.h. Schneider noted that the goal for this rehab outing is for Yesavage to throw between 40 and 50 pitches. In his first full MLB season, he has made 18 starts, achieving a 3.65 ERA with 91 strikeouts over 93.2 innings.
