During the trial, a forensic physician testified that Maradona exhibited several warning signs, such as swelling in the limbs and shortness of breath, which were overlooked during his home hospitalization. The physician noted that these symptoms indicated a life-threatening condition, yet no medical intervention was taken to address them.
Maradona passed away from heart failure and acute pulmonary edema, two weeks after undergoing surgery. The accused healthcare professionals maintain that Maradona's death was due to natural causes, despite the testimony suggesting a lack of adequate medical response to his deteriorating health.
