Tributes Flow for Dory Funk Jr. Following His Passing

Dory Funk Jr., a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, passed away at the age of 85 on August 4 while under hospice care. He remained semi-active in wrestling into his 80s and, alongside his late brother Terry, was recognized as one of the greatest wrestlers, achieving significant success both individually and as a tag team.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) honored Funk in a tribute, highlighting his contributions to the company during the 70s and 80s. All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) also published an obituary, with condolences from wrestling legends such as Kenta Kobashi and Great Muta.

Ric Flair and Kurt Angle were among those who paid tribute, with Flair noting the honor of facing Funk in the ring, while Angle reflected on Funk's influence in his early career and his ability to adapt while maintaining traditional wrestling values.
