During the match, Yachty intervened to prevent Corbin from using the championship belt as a weapon, despite Corbin striking Williams with it earlier. Williams ultimately countered Corbin's attack with the Trick knee, securing his victory.

Before the title match, Yachty had been on the verge of defeat after enduring two End of Days from Corbin. However, he executed a low blow at the last moment, allowing him to last the full five minutes and set up Williams for the title opportunity.
