Tristan Roberts, a bodyboarder from South Africa, has won his third Men's Bodyboarding World Championship title at El Frontón in Gran Canaria, achieving this milestone on Monday. This victory adds to his previous championships secured in 2019 and 2022.
Roberts, who was leading the IBC World Tour rankings, only needed to compete in his first heat to confirm the title. He excelled in Round 4, scoring 13.25 to surpass Peru's Christopher Bayona, who scored 12.25. The moment was celebrated on the beach with friends and family, including his mother, who surprised him by attending.
El Frontón holds significant meaning for Roberts, as it is where he first claimed a world title in 2019. He has a long history with the wave, having trained extensively there since he was 12. With the world title secured, Roberts is now focused on competing for the Gran Canaria Frontón King title, an event he has previously won, aiming to replicate his earlier success.
