Troy Aikman Believes ESPN is Moving On After This Season
Troy Aikman has suggested that his time with ESPN may be coming to an end, as he has not engaged in any contract extension discussions with the network. He stated that the lack of negotiations leads him to believe ESPN is planning to move in a different direction after this season.
Aikman, who has been part of the longest-tenured NFL broadcast team alongside Joe Buck for 25 years, noted that with the Super Bowl approaching on February 14 and his contract expiring in March, it seems unlikely that ESPN would retain him without prior discussions.
While Buck received a six-year contract extension worth approximately $108 million, Aikman’s situation remains uncertain. Reports indicate that tensions arose between the two broadcasters recently, and Aikman has hinted at seeking opportunities elsewhere after the season concludes. He is set to continue broadcasting through the Super Bowl, with speculation about his future contract discussions with ESPN occurring after the event.
