Troy Aikman Hints at Departure from ESPN After Current Contract
Troy Aikman, a Hall of Fame quarterback and analyst for ESPN/ABC's Monday Night Football, indicated on Thursday that he might depart the network after his contract concludes following Super Bowl LXI.
Aikman mentioned to Jimmy Traina that there have been no discussions regarding a contract extension, leading him to believe ESPN is moving in a different direction. He noted the timing is unusual, as his contract ends in March, shortly after the Super Bowl on February 14.
Despite his impressions, Aikman did not rule out the possibility of ESPN attempting to extend his contract before it expires. He expressed enthusiasm for the remainder of the season, emphasizing his excitement for the upcoming Super Bowl. Aikman also refrained from commenting on any reported tensions with his broadcast partner, Joe Buck, who recently signed a five-year extension.
