Troy Aikman May Rejoin Cowboys Front Office, Says Jerry Jones
Troy Aikman, the former quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, may be considering a return to the team as his contract with ESPN is set to expire at the end of the season. Before the Cowboys' game against the Eagles, Aikman met with team owner Jerry Jones, who expressed that Aikman is certainly qualified for a role in the NFL front office.
Jones stated that while there are no immediate plans for Aikman to join the organization, the possibility remains open. Aikman has publicly acknowledged that he is exploring new opportunities and has hinted at a willingness to work with the Cowboys, a team he played for over 12 years and won three Super Bowls with. His future with ESPN appears uncertain, especially after his booth partner received a significant contract extension.
Aikman has previously served as a consultant for the Miami Dolphins during their coaching search but does not have a formal agreement with them. As the landscape of NFL broadcasting evolves, Aikman's next steps remain to be seen.
