TTFI Suspension Raises Concerns for Indian Table Tennis Players

The Sports Ministry has suspended the recognition of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), creating uncertainty for Indian players as they prepare for the Asian Games.

While India's participation in the Asian Games is not expected to be compromised, the suspension raises questions about the team's preparations, including planned exposure trips and training camps. An ad-hoc body is anticipated to be formed to oversee table tennis activities.

Additionally, the status of Massimo Costantini, India's Foreign Expert, remains uncertain as his tenure ended in May and his new role has not been officially confirmed. His travel plans to join the Indian team have been postponed, leaving his involvement in the Asian Games unclear. Meanwhile, the first zonal National ranking table tennis tournament is set to take place in Kanpur from August 16 to 23, with TTFI sources confirming that it will proceed as planned, providing some reassurance to young players and their families.
