Tua Tagovailoa to Miss Week 1 with Injury
Tua Tagovailoa will miss his debut with the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to an oblique injury.
The injury occurred during a practice session when Tagovailoa grabbed his back after making a throw. He had previously dealt with a back issue at the start of training camp.
Tagovailoa, who joined the Falcons this off-season on a one-year contract after being released by the Miami Dolphins, struggled last season with injuries and performance. In two pre-season games, he completed 10 of 13 passes for 117 yards. He was named the starting quarterback after the team's head coach determined that Michael Penix Jr. was not ready to return from ACL surgery.
