Türkiye has officially qualified for the 2027 World Cup following a decisive victory over Iceland, while Canada is on the brink of securing its place after defeating Argentina.

Türkiye has become the second national team to qualify for the 2027 World Cup, joining host nation Qatar after a dominant 110-73 victory against Iceland on Monday. This win improved Türkiye's World Cup qualifying record to 8-0, with Cedi Osman and Onuralp Bitim each contributing 17 points.

This marks a notable improvement for Türkiye, which did not compete in the 2023 World Cup after finishing with a 4-6 record in qualifiers. The current roster includes several NBA players, such as Adem Bona and Omer Yurtseven, and the team recently finished as the runner-up at EuroBasket 2025.

While Türkiye is the only team to officially qualify so far, Canada is close to securing its spot after a 97-92 win over Argentina. The Canadian team, led by Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Luguentz Dort, remains undefeated in its qualifying campaign and is expected to finalize its World Cup berth in the upcoming November window.
