Twins Assign Catcher Alex Jackson to Triple-A St. Paul
The Minnesota Twins have assigned catcher Alex Jackson outright to Triple-A St. Paul after he went unclaimed on waivers following his recent designation for assignment (DFA).
Jackson, who has over three years of Major League service, had the option to reject the assignment in favor of free agency but chose to stay with the team. He is currently on a $1.35 million arbitration salary, which he would have forfeited had he opted for free agency.
Originally acquired from the Orioles last offseason, Jackson served as a backup catcher for the Twins this season, appearing in 29 games and achieving a batting average of .303. Despite his offensive struggles, he is recognized for his defensive skills and will now return to Triple-A after a brief stint in the majors.
