Twins Designate Alex Jackson for Assignment

The timing of this move coincides with the Field of Dreams Game, where both the Twins and Phillies were allowed to add a 27th player for the day. The Twins activated Byron Buxton from the injured list, which necessitated the roster adjustment. Jackson, who has not been in the starting lineup since July 30, was deemed surplus to requirements.

Jackson was called up in mid-May to fill in for Ryan Jeffers, who was injured. He has struggled with a high strikeout rate, posting a .174/.252/.305 slash line over 189 games. The Twins plan to place him on waivers soon, and he may accept an outright assignment back to Triple-A St. Paul if he clears waivers.
