Twins Designate Cody Laweryson for Assignment

The Minnesota Twins have designated right-handed pitcher Cody Laweryson for assignment, a move announced on August 1, 2026. This decision allows the team to activate Garrett Acton from the 60-day injured list and option him to Triple-A.

Laweryson previously made his major league debut in 2025, achieving a 1.17 ERA over 7 2/3 innings. He was claimed off waivers by the Angels but was released in February before re-signing with the Twins on a minor league deal. This season, he has pitched 16 2/3 innings with a 4.86 ERA, but a right forearm strain limited his appearances. Since being optioned to Triple-A in July, he has been on the injured list.
