Twins Part Ways with Reliever Cody Laweryson

The Minnesota Twins have released right-handed reliever Cody Laweryson, as reported by the MLB.com transaction tracker. This decision follows his designation for assignment last week, coinciding with the activation of Garrett Acton from the 60-day injured list.

Laweryson has been sidelined on the minor league injured list since mid-July due to an undisclosed issue. His release became likely after he remained untraded past the deadline, as injured players cannot be placed on outright waivers. If unclaimed, he will become a free agent and may have the option to re-sign with Minnesota on a minor league deal.

The 28-year-old has made 20 appearances for the Twins over the past two seasons. He briefly joined the Angels roster during the winter but has spent the majority of his career within the Minnesota organization. Laweryson holds a 3.70 ERA in 24 1/3 innings at the major league level, with a 4.45 ERA in parts of three seasons at Triple-A St. Paul.
